The red form on the back of the chopper is the exoskeleton of the music cabinet. It's made of fiberglass, and the open sides will soon be completed with translucent panels similar to the ones used on the Soul Cycle Slim.

New prototype being born

Originally uploaded by soulboating.

Worldbike employee Jacob is a great welder and metal worker. Here he prepares the seatstays for welding. Local materials, including 'furniture pipe' were used to Chop 'N Drop this stock mountain bike into a load carrying utility bike. Keeping the original rear triangle intact allowed Ed and Jacob to keep the design simple, with less chance of rear wheel misalignment.

Test ride, Kisumu#2 Worldbike

Ed Lucero's been ripping it up at the Worldbike workshop in Kisumu. Check out the beautiful curves on the cargo rack section. When bent right, curves are strong, light, and reduce the number of welds. They also reduce the number of poky things sticking out from the side of the bicycles.

Does that thing fit on the bike shuttle?

Posted On: Tue, 03/13/2007 - 10:38am by fossilfool

We often get this question from peope who use BART and the bike shuttle. And I'm happy to say, yes. An Xtracycle fits on both BART elevators (tipped up) and on the bike shuttle. It takes a little finesse to go on Caltrain with an Xtracycle, because it exceeds the 80 inch length limit, and many conductors are strict. City buses can work if you remove the front wheel, and place the hook over the top tube of the bike.

Why you can't post comments to Rock The Bike at the moment

Posted On: Mon, 03/12/2007 - 11:23pm by fossilfool

What's up bike people?

We really want to hear what you have to say about Rock the Bike, including your comments on the various updates, and your questions on our forum. But we started having a problem a couple months ago with robots signing up on our site with names like "buycialis" and "viagra", posting comments about where to buy 'performance enhancing' drugs. And since we have a lot of customers who are moms and kids, we decided to yank the comments feature altogether until we have find a way to exist as a bike community, in peace.

So, we're working on it. Please hold on to your questions or email me at paul at rock the bike.

I rigged my favorite household speakers to my new Soul Cycle Chopper, as a prototype of my new custom cabinet. We used a digital amplifier similar to the ones in our Soul Cycle In The Pocket head unit.
